Job Description

Responsibilities:
Evaluate all aspects of the direct broadcast ground system (Field Terminal System (FTS)) including nominal ground system implementation, logistics for support of nominal ground system (how systems are fielded, maintained, and upgraded (hardware & software/algorithms). Evaluate ground communications for direct broadcast ground terminals. Make recommendations for performance and/or logistical improvements on all of the above.

** Knowledge of controlling and monitoring systems related ground spacecraft equipment operations. Knowledge of processing techniques and requirements for processing housekeeping, health and status, operational and science data from spacecraft and science instruments. Possesses broad understanding of IT, electronics and communications disciplines and an ability to integrate the pieces together to optimize the design, integration and test of flight and ground hardware and software. Leads the development of ground data systems for satellite/instruments. Duties include ground systems requirements analysis, development, integration and testing, and post-launch support for spacecraft command and control, telemetry capture and processing, science data processing, and archiving/distribution of processed data to users. Works with the hardware engineers to define ground segment requirements, interface control documents and simulators. Conducts internal design reviews, monitor ground hardware, and support Design Reviews.
